Athens is an interesting city and we had the best time seeing the sites, exploring the Plaka area, visiting the Acropolis, and experiencing the nightlife.
Our first week was spent in Athens at the Hotel Plaka. Overall it was a pretty nice place right in the heart of the Plaka District on Mitropoleos, near the market and all of the excitement. The rooms are nice sized, have American bathrooms, and hardwood floors. They have a cool rooftop garden offering a spectacular view of the Acropolis!
We give the hotel a thumbs up but do not expect any assistance from the staff. Even after talking to every desk clerk in the place they still turned Federal Express away twice with Maxine's plane tickets to Santorini.
